Florida SUV accident attorneys alerts- A Ford Explorer hit a boy who was on his way to a Halloween event in Clermont.

Orlando, FL—An 8-year-old boy was struck and killed while crossing a busy road on Halloween night. The boy was fatally struck while he was walking to a church-sponsored Halloween event, ironically designed for safety, on Saturday, October 31, 2009 around 7:39 p.m., in Clermont as reported by the Orlando Sentinel.

A 8-year-old boy was with the father’s girlfriend and two other people in the center turn lane on S.R. 50 and Seventh Street en route to First United Methodists Church of Clermont “Trunk of Treat” event for children, when the boy and the girlfriend were hit by a westbound Ford Explorer SUV. The young boy was tragically killed as a result of the crash. The driver of the SUV stopped immediately and was apparently “very distraught.” The church event, which brought in hundreds of people, was moved to a new parking lot on the northern end of the property so it was farther away from busy S.R. 50, and to avoid such tragic accidents.

The girlfriend was injured in the crash, and was transported by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to South Lake Hospital in Clermont for treatment and was later released. Officials are currently trying to determine why they were on their way to the event, since it ended at 7:30 p.m. Police found no evidence that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the collision occurred. A full investigation is reportedly underway.
