Des Moines, IA—Three people where injured when a car collided with a Des Moines Area Regional Transit (DART) paratransit bus. The crash happened Wednesday afternoon, September 9, 2009 around 1:00 p.m. at 10th Street and Mary Avenue, as reported by the Des Moines Register.
According to police officials, the crash occurred at the intersection of 10th Street and Mary Avenue, when a car driven by, Kenaj Claytor, 19, failed to yield a stop sign and hit the bus. The DART bus, which was carrying four passengers, reportedly had the right of way. Three unidentified passengers on the bus were transported by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to three different hospitals. One victim was rushed to Mercy Medical Center, another was brought to Iowa Methodist Medical Center, and the third was taken to Iowa Lutheran Hospital. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown. The driver of the bus and another passenger did not require any medical attention. It is unknown if Caytor was injured in the crash. The collision is currently under investigation by police officials. No traffic citations in connection with the crash have reportedly been issued.
