Indiana Department of Transportation alerts Indiana Semi-truck accident lawyers- UPS 18-wheeler crashed into overpass pillar and left the driver dead.
Rochester, IN—A single vehicle wreck on the southbound lanes of State Road 31, left one man dead. The fatal collision happened Tuesday morning, August 25, 2009 around 6:30 a.m., as reported by WLFI.
According to Indiana State Police, a UPS tractor-trailer pulling two trailers while traveling southbound on State Road 31, slammed into a concrete pillar, which supports the State Road 14 overpass. Police officials stated it is unclear what caused the semi-truck to crash into the overpass pillar. The driver of the UPS 18-wheeler, Robert Bozell, 53, of Tipton was reportedly killed on impact. Police stated Bozell was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but the impact was so violent the seatbelt couldn’t have prevented his death. The collision left a large debris field, which contained goods that were being transported in the tractor-trailer from the UPS center in Chicago, to the Kokomo, Indiana center. Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) http://www.in.gov/indot/ inspected the overpass pillar involved in the wreck and determined the concrete pillar did not suffer any structural damage. The southbound lanes of the State Road 31 were reportedly closed for the most of the day on Tuesday. Officials are conducting a full investigation into the fatal one-vehicle crash.
