Texas wrongful death attorneys alert- Fort Worth workplace accident at a construction site involving two brothers leaves one dead and another injured.
Fort Worth, TX– A tragic construction site accident leaves one 12-year-old dead, and his 8-year-old brother with injuries after being buried with sand. The fatal workplace accident occurred at the Covered Bridge Estates in Azle around 1:00 p.m., as reported by the Weatherford Democrat.
According to accident reports, the two brothers were playing at a construction site where workers with American Gunite Co. were installing a residential in-ground pool. According to the 8-year-old, him and his brother climbed up into a truck to play in the bed full of sand. The brothers were reportedly playing for a few minutes before being buried. Workers happened to notice one of their hoses, which are used to pump the sand, became jammed. The workers shut the pump off and went to check on the hose, where they found the 8-year-old buried to his waist in the sand mixture. The boy told the workers that his brother was buried underneath the sand at the back of the truck. The workers then frantically began digging the 12-year-old from the sand and immediately called 911. When the 12- year-old was freed from the sand, the workers desperately tried to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until emergency medical service (EMS) crews arrived at the scene. The two brothers were transported by EMS crews to the Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth where the 12-year-old was pronounced dead. The 8-year-old brother suffered a broken leg from the crushing weight of the sand. It is unknown where the children’s parents were at the time of the accident or if they were one of the workers present at the construction site.
