Seaside Heights, NJ—A former American idol hopeful, Alexis Cohen, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident while visiting the popular beach town, Seaside Heights. The accident occurred on Saturday, July 25, 2009, as reported by the New York Daily News.
Alexis Cohen, 25, of Allentown, Philadelphia is widely known for her rejected audition for Season 7 of American Idol, where she was nicknamed “glitter girl”. Cohen was reportedly hit in the pre-dawn hours on Saturday. Two passerby reportedly found Cohen’s badly battered body along side a Seaside Heights roadway. Cohen reportedly died from abdomen, chest, and head injuries sustained in the hit-and-run accident. The driver who stuck her was arrested on Sunday in Monmouth County, and was identified as Daniel Bark, 23, of Toms River. Police official’s state Bark is charged with second-degree manslaughter, which holds a sentence of 10-15 years if he’s found guilty. Barker was also charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
Cohen auditioned for American Idol twice but never made the cut. Cohen reportedly was also a student at the Montgomery County Community College for veterinarian medicine.
