Ventura area driver rear-ends auto at stop light slamming into motorcycle rider.
Ventura, CA–A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries on Tuesday evening after being run over by a car in Ventura, California. The Ventura County Star reports the automobile accident took place at approximately 5:00 p.m., close to the Thompson Boulevard and Santa Cruz Street intersection. Ventura County police officials state a stopped car was pushed into the motorcycle driver when it was rear-ended. David Miller, a 48 year-old resident of Ventura, was speeding on the roadway and crashed into a car driven by another Ventura resident, 34 year-old Jesus Garcia. Garcia’s vehicle was then pushed forward into a motorcycle, driven by 54 year-old Frank Hendricks of Oxnard. Hendrix had stopped his vehicle on eastbound Thompson Boulevard. Police officers say he was preparing for a left turn onto Santa Cruz Street. Hendrix was knocked off of his motorcycle when Garcia’s car was pushed forward. Hendrix fell onto the car hood of Garcia’s vehicle. He then fell off of the hood and onto the roadway. Garcia’s vehicle drove over Hendrix and trapped Hendrix beneath it. Passersby and motorists stopped to help rescue Hendrix by lifting away Garcia’s car.
Ventura County area emergency medical services (EMS) team and fire rescue crew took Hendricks to Ventura County Medical Center. Police authorities say Hendricks was treated for his injuries and is now listed in stable condition by doctors and nurses. Roadway accident investigators indicate Miller is responsible for the motor vehicle collision (MVC). Police detectives believe Garcia is not at fault in the car wreck. Miller and Garcia were reportedly uninjured.
