Hartford judge sentences trucking owner after dump truck kills 4 and injures 11 people.
Hartford, CT(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–Hartford Superior Court Judge, David Gold, handed down a suspended 10 year prison sentence to a trucking company owner this week. The owner, Devid Wilcox, 73, will serve six years in prison after being found guilty for numerous counts of assault and manslaughter.
As reported by the The News-Times, Wilcox’s company failed to maintain one it’s dump trucks. In 2005, the driver of the dump truck lost control descending down Connecticut’s Avon Mountain on Route 44 and plowed into 19 motor vehicles that were stopped at traffic light. Court documents reveal accident fatality investigators determined the dump truck had bad brakes and the driver was unable to stop. The driver died in the horrific crash along with three commuters. Eleven other drivers and passengers were injured in the fatal truck wreck.
