2 Ford pickups in Richardson collide resulting in death of SUV driver.
Houston, TX(JusticeNewsFlash.com)—A motor vehicle collision (MVC) consisting of two pickup trucks and an SUV resulted in 1 driver fatality and left 5 others injured. According to Fox News, around 4 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009, a Ford Ranger was heading east on the 1600 block of West Parkwood when he inexplicably moved into the westward lanes, directly facing the oncoming traffic. The approaching Ford F350 apparently, attempted to avoid the Ford Ranger but both pickup trucks ended up crashing head-on. Attached to the Ford F350 was a trailer being used to transport construction equipment, which, after the initial crash, hit a Chevrolet Suburban SUV.
As reported by The Galveston County Daily News http://galvestondailynews.com/, the driver of the Ford Ranger truck was found dead on the scene of the horrible wreck near the Friendswood Police Station. Friendswood Emergency Medical Services (EMS) crews took the driver, of the Chevrolet SUV, to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center to be evaluated. According to authorities, though the trailer struck the SUV hard, nobody in the automobile obtained any serious personal injury. Two Life Flight helicopters transported the Ford F350 driver and three other passengers to the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for their serious truck wreck related injuries.
After the automobile accident occurred, traffic was delayed for approximately 90 minutes, leading to two more car crashes in the same general vicinity. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) conducted a study and reportedly came to the conclusion that 80% of motor vehicle collisions and 65% of near-crashes are caused by distracted drivers. This seems to be the case for many automobile accidents including SUVs and pickup trucks. Drivers become distracted causing automobile accidents to take place. This will in turn leave a scene that could quite possibly be a means of distraction to other drivers, inevitably causing more car wrecks to occur.
