Retired New York City Police officer dies after upstate car crash

New York, NY(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–As reported by the Poughkeepsie Journal, a three car crash on Route 22, near Danby Lane, in upstate New York, left one driver dead and two seriously injured. Richard Grasso, a 51 year-old retired New York City Police Department (NYPD), officer crashed into two other motor vehicles, on southbound Route 22, at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday night.

According to New York State Police officers, Grasso was driving southbound on Route 22, when his Honda CRV collided with another automobile, driven by Lisbeth Hodge, a 37 year-old Pawling woman, who was traveling northbound. The head on motor vehicle collision (MVC) caused Grasso’s car to hit a second northbound auto driven by 28 year-old, Armando Gonzalez, of Wingdale. Grasso died from fatal injuries he suffered in the three vehicle automobile accident. Both drivers, Hodge and Gonzalez, suffered traumatic brain injuries and were transported by emergency medical personnel to Danbury Hospital. New York State Police confirm the road was slippery and the visibiltiy was hindered by fog. Highway accident detectives continue to investigate the fatal car crash.
