Long Island drunk driver rents Enterprise car to avoid court mandated breath test. New York criminal lawyers creating news now.
New York, NY (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–The Associated Press (AP) reported a Long Island convicted drunk driver is in critical condition at Stony Brook University Medical Center after crashing his rental car when he was driving while intoxicated. According to Suffolk County police, Marvin Rice Jr., a 27 year-old man from Shirley specifically rented a car to avoid having to use the court mandated breath analyzer device placed in his own vehicle after a 2005 driving under the influence conviction.
Rice, of 114 Forest Avenue, crashed into a Brentwood telephone pole on Crooked Hill Road at approximately 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning according to Suffolk police investigators, wrecking his rental car. He rented a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta from Enterprise Rent-A-Car which did not have the court required ignition interlock device, which requires drives to a breath analyzer before the vehicle can be started. Rice will be arraigned on April 13 in Central Islip for his current charges by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office of driving while intoxicated.
