Democratic presidential hopeful Obama’s grandmother died Monday, in Hawaii, after a long battle with cancer. Obama received the news yesterday, one day, before the U.S. Presidential election of 2008.
November 3, 2008, Honolulu, HI (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–Democratic presidential candidate, Illinois Senator Barack Obama, remains grieving the passing of his grandmother today. Madelyn Payne Dunham, 86, died on Monday, one day before her grandson, Senator Obama, may be elected president of the United States of America. The grieving Senator made the announcement to tens of thousands of supporters at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte last night. The family will hold a private ceremony later.
The presidential hopeful spoke of a remarkable woman who lived through the Great Depression and World War II. She worked on a bomber assembly line while her husband, Obama’s grandfather, fought for America during WWII. He said he wanted people to know she was a humble and soft spoken woman working hard in the hopes of witnessing her children and grandchildren thrive.
He referred to his grandmother as one of “the quiet heroes we have all across America” further adding, “That’s what we’re fighting for,” Obama said tonight.
